Mother Nature and Father Time stand as eternal truths, governing the cycles of our life.
Mother Nature's wrath, and love, is beyond our human comprehension... back her up long enough, she can destroy a city, hell, a planet if she wanted to... but she can also give life to the destruction of her power - like the aftermath from a forest fire or volcanic eruption.
Take Father Time... he can grant us many years of a full life, just as he can pluck us from this earth in an instant. The reach of his scythe is ever lurking in the shadows.
If these two met at a bar and liked each other enough to go home together - can you imagine? Their one nightstand (cause you know it wouldn't last) would manifest a culmination that only one could compare to a Vampire and Werewolf.. a hybrid of sorts.
This miracle of life would likely be known as nothing other than Shift.
Cause, Shift happens
Like Shift's parents, they have an inevitably and a universal presence that cannot be argued... so does Shift himself.
The greatest oxymoron ever conceived: "the only constant is change".
Shift happens.
If you live long enough you will have to come to the realization that not everything is going to stay the same forever.
Your babies are born. They change you life. They evolve into small humans. then shift happens... they grow up, they move on, become their own adulting humans without their parents.
You will age, become stronger, taller, and faster... then shift happens. you will become older, slower, weaker, you'll need to take pictures with your phone to zoom in.
The message app on your phone that you've come to love and adore, rely on and brag about, suddenly will not be available on the next update.
The garbage disposal you had for 20 years will need replacing. So you replace it. Then, 3 years go by and you need to replace it again. Shift happens, shit isn't made the way it used to be.
A random person moves in next door and becomes your neighbor.. shift happens. You become best buddies, best buddies for a decade... but shift happens, they need to move away. Dancing themselves within the waves of their own shifting lives. Shift happens.
Like the sun rising tomorrow without argue...
Such as the clock ticking it's minutes by without regard to needing more...
So goes the changes in our lives.
The trick to all of this, really, is to embrace it.
Immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring beauty and boundless power of Mother Nature. Savor every moment as if it were your last dollar—stretch it, cherish it, and spend it with intention.
And above all, find joy in the ever-shifting currents of our fleeting, extraordinary days. Change is not our enemy... it’s the rhythm of life, the gentle hand guiding us toward growth and renewal... like the seasons in our years. Every twist and turn, every ebb and flow, carries the gift of transformation, reminding us that within the uncertainty lies the potential for beauty, resilience, and discovery. Embrace the shift, for it is through change that we truly live, adapt, and thrive.
Have a grateful weekend! :)
